Konya-Cappadocia

24 October 2011: Departure from Antalya and after four hours drive arrive in Konya. Having lunch, visit the Mausoleum of Mevlana and the home of whirling dervishes. Mevlana is the great Anatolian Philosopher, The Poet and The Father of the Mevlevi Sect. “Come, come again, whoever you are, come! A Christian, A Muslim or A Jew Come even if you have broken your vows a hundred times,Ours is the portal of hope, come as you are." These words of Mevlana (Rumi)*, lived in the 13th century, has always been the motto of traditional Turkish hospitality and tolerance.Drive to Cappadocia and check in to the hotel. Dinner and overnight.

25 October 2011: Having breakfast at the hotel, visit Devrent valley where the geografical formations remind us a place of another planet and Pasabagi to take a stroll among the amazing fairy chimneys of Cappadocia. After lunch, visit Göreme Open Air Museum where you can see the most beautiful examples of Byzantine art. Next stop is Uchisar castle, the highest point of the region, where we have a fabulous panoramic view over Cappadocia. Return to the hotel for dinner and overnight.

26 October 2011: Having breakfast at the hotel, visit Underground city of Kaymakli (one of the largest sub terraine settlements in Cappadocia) and drive to Ihlara valley which is famous with the fascinating landscape of the canyon and its rock churches with colorful frescoes. We hike through the Ihlara canyon by the Melendiz river, enjoying its natural beauty besides the rock cut churches. Lunch at a local village restaurant. Afternoon visit the 13th century Seljukian caravanserai. Return to the hotel for dinner and overnight.

27 October 2011: Drive to Nevsehir or Kayseri Airport for flight back home.
