Pamukkale-Ephesus-Virgin Mary
24 October 2011: Early in the morning, drive to Pamukkale/Cotton Castle. Check in to the hotel and free time for relax in the hot thermal spring pools of Pamukkale. In the afternoon half day sightseeing tour. Pamukkale; was added to the UNESCO World Cultural Heritage list because of the glorious and beautiful white travertine and the historical values of Hierapolis Ancient City. For the cottony view offers a unique taste, it is called as the 8th wonder of the world. Pamukkale is in Denizli which is situated at the western part of the Turkey. A magnificent Pamukkale and mysterious Ancient City Hierapolis waiting for visitors with its unique travertine, ancient Roman theatre, ancient pool, thermal hot springs, monumental tomb of St. Philippe who is disciple of Jesus, most magnificent Necropolis of Anatolia, earthquake tracks which was caused to collapse the ancient city, Temple of Apollo, fountain. Dinner will be taken at the hotel.
25 October 2011: Early in the morning, departure for Ephesus. Ephesus is the best preserved and most visited ancient city of all ages, and is a popular religious shrine today as it was in ancient times. This is due to the –miraculous- discovery of the House of the Blessed Virgin Mary where Christians who visit will become pilgrims. Artemis temple which was considered as one of the Seven Wonders of the ancient world, the library of Celsius, the basilica of St. John, built in the 5th century on the site of the tomb of the Apostle and the archaeological museum of Seljuk will be visited. Dinner and overnight at the hotel inKuşadası.
26 October 2011: Having breakfast at the hotel, drive to Izmir which is the third largest city of Turkey. Half day tour starts with the visit of Alexander the Great Castle from the 4th century BC on the Pagos Hill overlooking the whole city. Thereafter visit Agora Museum (means Public Square and shopping district) which is the biggest and best protected of theIon agoras. The next stop is the Archaeological Museum with art crafts from old Symrna and Ephesus. Proceed to the 100 years old Clock Tower, which is the symbol of Izmir. Last, a short sightseeing in the heart of Izmir which is Alsancak district. Transfer and check in to the hotel. Free time.
27 October 2011: Transfer to the airport for a flight back home.
